Spring Ahead, Fall Back

I have secretly figured I would most likely fall down my stairs at some point...I've had many close calls and it had become clear this was a definite possibility. Luckily, I have always managed to catch myself before it actually happened.
Last night in the dark, I went down for the count! I had stopped at home real quick to change out of my heels before a grocery trip to trader joes...On my way back down to my illegally parked car -BAM BOOM BANG FLIP SMASH - I missed a step and was catapulted down my flight of stairs (it seems humorous today, but last night I lay stunned & crying). I am totally fine - a little bruised & cut but it could have been much worse!

Hello Fabulousness!

Last night I witnessed a collaboration never before seen...
KANYE WEST performing at a gala honoring MARC JACOBS and celebrating Japanese artist TAKASHI MURAKAMI's new exhibit at MOCA! This downtown party was simple and modern with a very fashionable artsy crowd! There was a fundraiser dinner afterwards (which we did not attend) that was $5,000 a head. Nestled in the exhibit is a Louis Vuitton store (Murakami designed Louis Vuitton bags for Marc Jacobs). We sipped champagne, Mia did some interviews, ate sushi and danced while Kanye rocked the place with a 45 minute mini concert! It was the BEST party I have been to in a long time!
P.S. - Lauren, SQUILLATI was there!

My Muse- Bjork

For the past few Halloweens I have attempted to be Bjork in her swan dress - slowly gathering the feathers, looking for the perfect nude bodysuit, researching glitter techniques, studying my inspiration picture, trying on pantyhose left and right, perfecting the eyeliner, searching for just the right stuffed swan. Every year I try and fail to fully pull it together, UNTIL NOW!

I spent my whole Saturday frantically spray painting the swan's beak, back and forth to the fabric store, sewing 20 yards of tulle together, trying on body suits, ripping up pantyhose and stuffing my swan! The final product was my dream realized! A few people had no idea what I was or thought I was a Swan Princess, but for the most part people are pretty smart!

I LOVE MY DAD!

Yesterday something unexpected arrived for me in the mail...
It was a weird kid on a card and a quite substantial check from my Dad!
It reads:

Meg-

Mom found this picture of you from the 3rd grade play. Thought you'd want to put it in your scrapbook. If you don't have a scrapbook here's a little cash to buy one.

Love, Dad

NOTE: I am not this weird kid!

Dad - Thank you again for always being the BEST & FYI scrapbooks are WAY cheaper than you would think! I love you!

Edendale Grill with Mia & Shayna

It has been some time since I've seen fire eaters, men on stilts, ladies with mustaches & the photo booth out of order @ Edendale Grill - Luckily, Monday night I was treated to a healthy dose of all the above! Edendale Grill (one of my favorite haunts) held a 5 year anniversary party! This revamped firehouse launched their slightly disappointing new menu, which consisted of french fries, grilled sandwiches and macaroni & cheese- I love that I am a food critic all of a sudden! P.S. - How do we know the guy in the above picture? Is he an actor?

Babies Having Babies?

No, Presley Garlock (my niece) is not another example of girls having babies at ridiculously young ages. It looks like it at first glance, but on second glance she is merely "pretending" to be a good mother to this baby on the packaging of Mattel's HOT NEW toy "Little Mommy"!
Presley is a 5 year old Ford model! This is good training in case she becomes a teenage mother!

Happy 30th Birthday Lauren!

I can't wait for your party tomorrow night!

Slight Scolding

I hate to be the purveyor of this scolding, BUT I need to express my disappointment with your behavior! Can't put anything past you?...HAAA! I can put everything past you! I have the wool pulled way over your eyes! Don't you question anything I say? Stand up! Speak out! Voice your opinions! Don't you guys have any questions or comments? A few items you should have questioned as nice Americans...

"Good Night Nancy Reagan!" - this cannot make sense to you!
Teaspoon down in Antigua - aren't you curious?

I am not at liberty to share these answers at this time, but don't tell me you didn't at least wonder? Be more inquisitive people - Is it too much to ask? I need this from you! Your commenting skills are poor, has anyone ever told you?

Love,
Meg

"What did you do this weekend, Megan?"

So kind of you to ask! Weekend Highlights:
A cute elderly man (not even hobo-esq) aggressively shoved my shoulder at the drug store, half knocking me over and said “If you don’t get ‘em with the right hook, you’ll get ‘em with the left” – then he stumbled away and muttered “I’m gonna get you!” - what?, I was flipped off twice – who does this? I have NEVER flipped anyone off - how barbaric!, I Stayed up till 4am (and you guys didn't think I was wild!) had potato tacos @ El Carmen, screened my calls, wrapped a present, I went to a really sad funeral where a woman pleaded with the crowd to forgive her for her affair that ended the marriage to the deceased man, woke up to discover a bevy of termites in my bed with me, thrifted in Burbank @ my favorite thrift store, celebrated Judy Padula’s birthday - which was the fanciest tropical party EVER @ PJ & Jaime's, posed for John Quinn's modeling shots w/ Karen & SoYoung, danced, sang TV show theme songs and songs containing the words - Dance, Life or Beautiful, got some pajamas, perfected my new preppy look, dropped a dog named Mugs off at it's home, took a few naps, turned down a BBQ, watched fire coverage, planned a trip to Kansas City, made a salad, had too much coffee...can you say fun?

Additionally, he has appeared in more than 40 national commercials.Byrne was born in Old Tappan, New Jersey His birth date is November. 29.

Don't Flatter Yourself!

As of late, a lot of people have been telling me I am a good writer, which I admit is flattering! To all these kind people I wish to say, "WOW! your standards are low!"

Where the heck is Orlando Bloom?

Running on no sleep, Mia and I hit Cartier for stylist Rachel Zoe's Book Party. We admired diamonds, knocked the DJ's skills, ate olives on the roof, wondered where all the people were and wished we were across the street at the Chanel party. The stuffiness of the Cartier group forced us to S Bar in Hollywood. This party was for french shoe designer Christian Louboutin, whose red sole shoes are a must-have on the red carpet!

FUNNY SIDE STORY: On our drive I noticed I had 16 missed calls from my mom. Fearing the worst, I called her, She was crying, very upset and on the other line with Mia's dad, Barry, trying to get Mia's cell number! She was certain I had been kidnapped! I guess I accidentally called her from my purse on the way to Cartier. She heard Mia and I talking for a bit then the "ding ding" of car doors opening, then a commotion and men. She tried to call me back and insists a man (valet?) picked up the phone and yelled something like "Blaaaaaa!!" loudly and in a mean way. She proceeded to call me over and over (as well as all my friends to assist in the developing abduction case she was forming in her mind). Mia and I couldn't stop laughing while she was crying on the phone...sorry mom, we are alive and well!

Meanwhile, over at S Bar's chic soiree, the scene was young, crowded, hipper than Cartier, and much more our speed. The interior was fantastic - upside down vintage lamps hanging from the ceiling, candelabras everywhere, interesting scenic wall coverings & food from Katsuya! As Mia interviewed the Olsens, a gal from Style.com interviewed and took pictures of me! Who was I wearing?(my own creation) What are my fashionable plans for the rest of the week? (beats me?)What did I do for a living?...I keep looking for myself on Style.com in the "Street Scene" section. Cool kids like Ashley Olsen, Rachel Bilson, Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Bell nibbled on sushi while showing off their new shoes. All in all, it was a super fun night and we made a pit stop for Tylenol PM on the way home - hopefully I can finally catch up on some sleep!

knowledge is power!

Ever since a "pap" (paparazzi for those of you not in the "biz") showed me how to pose for the camera with my hand on my hip and my foot forward Sunday in the city, It's all I do! This is how I carry myself now - in a constant posed state. Whether in the shower or cleaning a toilet, at client mtg or at the gym - I stand like I am on the red carpet! Its my new "look"...I wanted you to know so you aren't surprised at our next encounter!

Mia, Megan, In Style Magazine and The Council of Fashion Designers of America Celebrate the Launch of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Worldwide @ Mortons! By the time we arrived The CELEBRATION was dying down, but the hors d'oeuvres (dinner) were still alive! Tuna tartar, mini burgers, veggie eggrolls, coconut shrimp, goat chesse pizza - I ate like it was going out of style (which it is in some circles)!

"Good Night Nancy Reagan! "

As of late, I am unable to properly sleep through the night. I wake up with nightmares of horseback riding??, toss, turn, count sheep, stress that I can't sleep and end up getting up at 3 or 4am to start my day! I make lists, iron, cross my T's and patiently wait for 5am to roll around for a Starbucks run. For those of you who do not have the pleasure of being up in the middle of the night, I am here to tell you that it is dark and eerily quiet (which I guess is good news for you sleepers).
My current situation spawned a raper / killer conversation with Mia. I realize it is rapist, but raper sounds funny to me. We wondered if these evil doers were doing their evils at 3am or more like 5am? We both agreed it was probably 5am! As you can imagine, this has put me on guard when I am getting coffee...I am constantly on the look out for a killer. This morning I saw a cat jump off a wall & I actually turned back to make sure it wasn't a panther or a bear or worse, a killer! What is happening? Obviously I am delirious!

Feist's publicist for the day!

I have taken it upon myself to inform you nice people about my latest obsession...
the FEIST song, 1234! It is all I have listened to for 3 days straight (if you know me at all, you will not find the constant repeating hard to believe) It has a nice pep to it!

Sunday in the City

MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK Spring '08
Mia and I attended a few fashion shows and the fashion week kick off party last night at Smashbox Studios in Culver City - The attendee's "COOL RAD SLICK" factor left a little to be desired compared to past years (in my humble opinion). Too early for bed, our second adventure of the eve landed us at Viceroy for salt and a night cap. My excitement builds for other fashion forward events later this week!

Johonna & Aaron's Beautiful Wedding in TAHOE!

What to be for Halloween? It's SCARY to decide!

Last year my friends and I went as THE HOLIDAYS! Christmas, Presidents Day, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King, Ash Wednesday, Veterans Day, Easter, Hannukah, Fourth of July...etc. We came in 2nd place in the contest (First place went to a bloody tampon - real nice, I know). Not sure what to go as this year. I have always wanted to be Bjork in the swan costume - Wait and see!

Cursed?

Okay, so I was just in the crosswalk and a man stopped within 1 inch of running me over - I have to tell you the adrenaline really pumps and your life flashes quickly before you (what a lovely life) as you are about to get run over! he seemed slightly sorry - It just doesn't seem to stop!

woe is meg

Last week I was on top of the world and thinking I was unstoppable!
I had plans to shoot a pilot for a Design Show, a high end specialty services referral company contacted me about offering my legendary present wrapping services, I took Friday off and flew to Tahoe for a fantastic wedding...Even the moments that tested my positive streak seemed to have happy endings - Almost missed my flight to Tahoe (I ran really fast and was sweaty, BUT I didn't!), my bag was supposedly lost (miraculously found!), Drove an hour in the wrong way to the rehearsal dinner (figured out I was in Nevada and still got to the party during cocktail hour!), It started snowing and I didn't have a coat (somehow I lived to tell the tale of the frozen tundra!)
This week, however, is a whole other story!!! - I am in the dumps!
Monday morning an elderly man crashed into me smashing up my car pretty bad
(STRANGE SIDE NOTE...20 minutes later he randomly walked into my work looking for his dentist's office - here is a picture of him on our surveillance camera)
My grandma is in the hospital and really not doing well - she lives in Tulsa so I can't just pop over and see her, I had 2 flat tires when I got out of work last night at midnight (another awesome thing- working till midnight), I even have clumsily bumped into or smashed myself against many more objects than usual! Well, with all this said, i am trying to keep calm and carry on, trying to say to myself, "this too shall pass", "buck up little camper", "keep your head held high", "pull yourself together", "stay strong", "fake a smile" and somehow all this isn't working like I would hope it would, I am extra frowny and sluggish! Have I lost my will to live? Nahh - but hopefully next week I will be back on the upward swing!

Johonna Godofsky to wed Aaron Katz

Johonna & Aaron, the night before they say, "I Do!"

Mia & Meg

Mia & Sara

As a sign of good luck, It began to unexpectedly snow towards the end of Johonna Godofsky's rehearsal dinner in Tahoe...what a surprise! Dinner was amazing, all the wedding guests were invited as the couple lives in Singapore, so family and friends wanted as much time with them as possible. The speeches were fantastic - there were SO many - they are really loved!
