my equestrian chic birthday party!

I am a very LUCKY gal! I've managed to stretch my birthday for weeks & weeks on end (just the way I like it). Months ago,  Lauren emailed me, "If you could do anything for your birthday, what would be your dream??" Without skipping a beat, I called her and screamed out, "horseback riding through griffith park to that gaggy mexican restaurant and back at sunset!!!!" With the brilliant plan hatched,  it didn't take long to get the masses on board & the equestrian chic invitations out for the blessed event! There was a strange wave of last minute fall outs (hope you jerks are all feeling better), but still a fabulous turn out! We paid the big bucks, took shots of vodka in a parking lot, waived our rights away, came to terms with our 12 year old guide (and her teenage dad?), we were given zero instructions on how to handle the horse except a quick lesson on the right way to jump off mid gallop and mounted our ponies! The adventure was full of hysterical moments, storm drains, near death experiences, a lot of dirt & bugs, many funny looks and enough memories to last a lifetime!!! THANK YOU for making my dream come true! best friends ever!

city slicker central!!!
vanity vs. life - the big helmet debate!
Danielle & Sherry!
Meg & Jen excited & slightly nervous to giddyup!
Shayna, Mia, Jen & Meg sporting our fluorescent horse necklaces!
Danielle was basically our guide (since our guides were a 12 going on 13 year old & a non english speaking man) - she gave us all the equine tips she learned on her Hawaii horse adventure earlier this week!
probably shouldn't have snapped a pic of my super cool shadow while my  horse DILLAN & I were galloping so very very close to the cliff, but I know a good photo op when I see it!
        blazing the trails (per usual)!
Kristen, Mia & Shayna hitching their horses at the super divey mexican restaurant!
how much more equestrian chic can you get?
Texas the horse made a b-line to eat every chance he got and poor Jen had some close calls with the foliage!

Lauren, Sara, Mia, Jen, Danielle, Meg, Shayna, Sherry & Kristen - such a blast!!!
except for the times Sara screamed because her horse was a maniac, she had a lovely time!
Shayna & Meg - little did I know that 5 hours from this picture Shayna & I would be in Tarzana, singing at the top of our lungs & dancing to the Tom Petty cover band - Petty Theft! sooo fun
 Jen finally tamed Texas!
we were no strangers to dust and grime at the end of the night!
Jen & Kristen convinced our new 12 year old buddy to take the super fast way back at the end of the night!
One of a million shots of us!
?? I was just doing what they told me to...
not dying to get on my horse after our margarita fest...

SO FUN!!!! Glad I chose "life" at the time, but it wasn't the best choice for the glamour horse shots.

Fantastic! That could be my absolute dream birthday. :) I especially like your artsy shadow picture. What a way to ring in 34. Hallelujah.

So much fun. I just laugh when I think of nervous "whoa's!", hearing horrow strories of punctured lungs and replacing steel ceiling light in the tunnerls, and eating bugs and getting powdered with dirt and tasting grit in my mouth and not becoming "intoxicated" per the 12 year old! LOVE LOVE LOVE the new blog template:)

If I had known 34 years later on the day you were born that you would be celebrating your birthday on a horse with your friends? Well, we would have moved back to California sooner....Oklahoma & a horse would have meant you were in a rodeo! OM Goodness! So glad you and your friends had so much fun Megan!
