Mia is the BESTEST FRIEND a girl could have! Isn't she cute?? She has the best sense of humor, spends most of her birthdays @ the oscars (not this one, we're having a fancy party in salt air's map room), & is always up for dressing as a baker for a weird party! She was most helpful in my diagnosis as a pleaser with jennifer lopez syndrome (thanks- I have gotten that slightly under control) and has the same birthday as her husband GAVIN!!! - how cool is that? She knows every creepy little thing about me and I know MOST things about her! Happy Memorials Days!!! Mia is always up for a sunday morning farmer's market meet up, wine (her new favorite), writing a thank you card (she has amazing manners), horseback riding (with a helmet for safety), purchasing pretty stationary, clubbing (the book variety), giving high end make-up to homeless people, having 80 year olds do her hair (not so much anymore), strolling cute neighborhoods, hitting an Australian party, a mani/ pedi, thai massages, buying super cute rugs, ordering goods with one quick click on amazon, watching bad tv shows or fish gazing. mia doesn't like weird meats or dumplings and has never paid for a haircut (she is that fancy & services are thrown @ her). She looks cute in flats and is cool if you yell out "Good Night Nancy Reagan!" and knock vigorously on her wall at bedtime! She is the best! Mia is my go to girl, my wing woman & the giver of plus 1's! I look forward to growing old with her on a cul-de-sac in Portland (I told her this in the most awkward wedding speech to date)!!!
For the past 19 years we have shared (daily) each other's triumphs, funny dilemmas, meals, excitements, dramas (like all the times I sent emails to the wrong people or when she told a lady she looked like she'd lost ONE THOUSAND POUNDS), babies (well hers, not mine), lip gloss purchases, love triangles (I don't think we've had these, but it sounded funny), sundays @ the farmers market, matching white boy tank top outfits, craziness, awkward moments (walking like a dog in central park, forgetting to remove the pump @ the gas station, the break your arm/ marc jacobs pant cuff incident) heartbreak, cooking lessons from Jen, dingo boots and straightening irons - so you know we have to be close! Mia and I lived together on a mattress in NYC - but then again, so did rock lobster the rat with wings, occasionally the babies or ice cream, hank the perverted madonna /english patient fan, bible beaters, hot dog carts, sweaty gus and JB-K! ahhhh NYC!! Mia has the BEST memory! As mine seems to slip, she can remember that Lake Bell is the one that liked my Shoe Pavilion shoes & that Kristy & Max got married!
I make sure to consult with her on every decision - making me uber codependent! She gives the best level headed advice, even when I don't want to hear it. We tend to talk in code & it's hard for others to fully understand - (Bernstein, Jubilees, "I'll fax you", Squillatti, FBF, punks). Mia is always on my team and to my delight, she consults me before spray tans (so I have the opportunity to stop her) - I would do the same if I ever had one! She is an AMAZING dancer & Nike shorts winner! Mia is famous! - which is always a nice quality in a friend - oh and she has fabulous taste in home goods, knows how to get cats out of her yard & is a doting mother to dahlia & declan!!!!
Mia looks good in Lee press-on nails and purple eye shadow on halloween! She has the cutest dishes, enjoys Anthropologie, interviewing celebrities and golden retrievers (sounds like a singles ad). There's a special place in her heart for Dahlia, Gavin, Declan, Dwight, sandwiches from Gelsons, taking me to musicals, the laundromat on 3rd street, being frank magazine, spinning class, childcare @ the gym, Duane Reade, Frank Sinatra, sleeping in castles, Cafe Habana corn on the cob & the boat entree, Abbott Kinney & Cynthia Nixon's GF!
If she says she'll meet you at the gym, she really will! Together we have perfected the head tilt/ leg in the air/ skinny arm and cheek to cheek pose (@ LA fashion week)! Mia has red hair! - She is often mistaken for Mariah Carey, an old classmate, Jenna Fisher, a squirrel, Chloe Sevigny, an Olson twin, a doctor, Hillary Duff or "someone familiar"! I bet you want to be her friend now as well!
