we celebrated Sarah's birthday at a cuban speakeasy @ western & santa monica called la descarga. we were granted admittance six days after I emailed asking for a reservation - they definitely like to keep you in suspense! To enter you walk through a stair maze & eventually duck inside cabinetry to get into the place (very sneaky), it's a rum bar, there's a strict fancy dress code, a really great jazzy band with a saxophone performs every hour, a burlesque dancer shakes her bon bon around & salsa dancing is all the rage- very interesting spot @ 11:30pm (we had to take a nap before we went). happy birthday Sarah!!!! Oh & we finally got to meet her boyfriend Gustavo! He was just as lovely as she'd said!
