Spare Tire

Jaki Brown-Karman, the legendary casting director, (on 2nd thought, legendary is a strong word) used to tell Mia & me to always have a "spare tire" ready to go. She was referring to men...if one goes flat then it was important to have a back up fella to fill the void. She taught us a lot of life lessons when we lived on a mattress with her in NYC for the summer (how to hide ice cream from people she deemed too chubby to eat it, the importance of typing bible verses on Fridays instead of doing actual work at HBO, how to cook with Gimme Lean fake meat goop, how to properly pray for actors @ casting sessions, to send angels forth before travelers as they made their way to their final destination, the catchy phrase "too blessed to be stressed", how to out ourselves as sinners at Friday night Bible Study without even trying, what peas in the kitchen were, the art of bringing in strangers off the street to sleep near you with assumed names and how to talk in tongues) - BUT it is a real pity she wasn't able to instill in me the importance of having a REAL spare tire. The one you keep in you car! Last night I could have used a working spare (mine had never been repaired from my last flat...oops!) Paige drove me home from work. Mia picked me up late night, took me to the scene of the crime & waited for an hour with me for the tow man, Carlos. Unfortunately, there was nothing he could do! Things are close to under control today...we are almost up and running again. Thanks for nothing Jaki!

If you didn't have a girlfriend, I would say real?
